Baseball update

Baseball is winding up - Ty has one more regular season game left and then they all have a little tournament.  Cort survived all the baseball games with a lot of sugar and popsicles! 

 About 1/2 way through the season Ty decided he wanted to try playing catcher - NO ONE wants to play catcher in machine pitch because the ball comes in at 40 mph.  Most catchers get dressed in all the gear and then just stand by the dugout until all the balls are pitched and then they run get them and through them back.  I was a little unsure of how Ty would do, he mostly plays in the outfield and is usually dancing around.  But he LOVES playing catcher and gets right in there and catches a lot of the pitches.  The ball comes in so fast it has torn his mitt to shreds.  :)  Good thing we don't have another left handed kid to pass it down to!  Ty got invited to try out for the All Star Team, most likely for the fact that he is the only kid that will get in there and catch the pitches.  :)  Try outs are Saturday, but there are a lot of really good kids in his league, quite a few are 9 year olds. 

 Zack has LOVED playing baseball.  He is in coach pitch but they started using a new pitching maching that is more like an arched slow pitch, but a little faster than the coach pitches.  At first no one on our team could hit off that machine but the last few games of the season they have been doing so much better.  Zack spends a lot of his time flirting with girls on his team, or trying to get the attention of girls from his preschool class who are at the fields watching their brothers. :)

Race Info. online

Ali said that the HandCart Days race info. is now online.  So you can go online and register who ever in your family for the race.  This is the Saturday before we all head to Bear Lake.  It is in Bountiful at the Rec. Center.   Breakfast is included with those your register to race, you also get a tshirt.  After the race the swimming pools are open and they have booths and games in the park.   Google search South Davis Rec. Center in Bountiful UT to look up the info.  If you register by June 21 it is the cheapest price, after the 21st the price goes up a few dollars.  There is a 1K, which is about a 1/2 mile.  They also have a 5K and 1/2 marathon for anyone really ambitious.  I think Rich, me, Kade and Ty will all run the 5K.  I think I'll sign Zack up for the 1K if there is an adult running with them.  Pat said she may do that, but I don't want you to feel like you have to Pat.  Zack can always ride his bike along side of us.  There are people not running, so you don't have to run, but it would be fun!

Baby

Getting ready. You'd have to ask Kylie, but from my vantage point this was a much easier delivery than J was.

His face suffered some serious bruising leading Rich to question his ethnicity.

We were at the Hospital about 12 hours before starting to push. Sabrina started her rotation after we had been there a few hours and was our nurse for the delivery. She was great. When I went off with Ethan to get cleaned up, the pediatric nurses made several comments about how impressive it was that me and Kylie stayed so calm during the delivery. It was a little hectic, but we didn't realize there was ever a reason to be concerned. I'm still not sure if there was. We really trusted the Dr and it helped to have nurse we had some ties with.

Pre-delivery all the nurses talked about how we were for sure having a blondie.......

Jordin is very confused by it all. Kylie's mom has been great and took J with her for a few days but made the trip back to let J see Ethan in the hospital. Jordin has a 3 month old nephew she had been playing with named Marcus. Marcus looks a lot like Ethan. Jordin had been saying we were naming our baby Ethan for the last few months, so she helped us make our decision. However, at the hospital she got all excited and said "Look! It's baby Marcus!" We're working on it, but now she is so confused that when we ask her what her little brother's name is she gets all excited and says "I don't know!!"

Enjoying Trent's mid mid life crisis

Trent had a self proclaimed "mid mid life crisis" a couple weekends ago. So we headed up to Idaho for some April boating adventures. After getting in the wetsuit (thanks to Morgan) he got one good run. The rest of us enjoyed our sweatshirts on the boat. It was a little too cold to get in the water, but still worth getting out on the boat for a bit.

USU 5K

This morning was the annual Davis Co. USU alumni 5K race.  We love to do it every year.  It is only $35.00 for the family registration and that comes with 4 t-shirts and raffle tickets, each additional t-shirt is only 5.00.  This was Zack's first year of being in the race, not just riding in the stroller.  He was so excited to have his own number.  When we got up to the starting line he was so nervous - he couldn't stop moving and kept asking questions on which way we were going.  Once we started Kade and Ty took off and Zack was scared to death.  He had white knuckles from gripping the handle bars so tight and kept telling us that he was so scared. :)  After about 1/4 of a mile he got it together and took off and was fine the rest of the race. 

 Ty took off in the lead - he is so worried about coming in last - he ran most of the race by himself ahead of us all.  Kade and Ty did great running.  Ty ran the race in about 33 min. with Zack and Cort and I right behind him.  Rich and Kade did it in 35 min.  So the boys both beat their times from last week by a couple of minutes.

 They had great raffle prizes this year - nice USU clothing and athletic gear.  We didn't win anything, but still an improvement from last year.  It is always fun to see James and Jackie's family there.  James took 2nd in the mens 18-35 division with a time of 22 min. and something.   Eating Aggie Ice Cream for breakfast is always a treat!

5K

2 boys in our ward and their sister organized this race for their eagle project and a service project the sister is doing.  It was a 5K race and the proceeds go to orphanages in Peru.  This family is buying humanitarian kits and clothes and things and then taking the stuff down to Peru this summer where their sister will be with a group working in the orphanages.    Rich is out of town this weekend for work, so I got a babysitter for Zack and Cort while Kade, Ty and I ran in the race.   I had to bribe the boys, saying I would take them out to lunch if there was no whining or crying the whole race.  :)  They did SO great!  Ty had a few tears at the very beginning because he thought we'd be last place but I quickly put an end to the tears telling him I wouldn't take them to lunch.    There were hardly any kids there, but we did not come in last place.  The boys ran most of the way, we stopped and walked a few times for just a little bit and then continued running.  They did it in 38 min.   They had a live band playing at the start/finish line and fruit/chocolate milk/powerades at the end, which the boys loved!  They said they had fun and liked doing it, which is good, because we do the USU alumni family 5K next weekend! :)
