Dear family: I've been browsing through your blogs and thought I should make an entry! Things here at home are going quite nicely. Kim and her kids have been sick with bad colds but they are a joy to have (most of the time). Yesterday I went to the Jazz game with Clay Murdoch! Clay, Chad Landon, Kelly Hart and myself left about 2:3O and drove to SLC. We stopped in Bountiful and enjoyed "Steak and Endless Shrimp" at the Zizzler. (My treat and contribution to the outing) We got to the game about 45 minutes early and enjoyed the pre-game festivities. The Jazz played the Pheonix Suns with Steve Nash. The stars for the Suns were Channing Frye and Goran Dragic who put on an unbelievable display of 3 point shooting! Dragic had 24 points in 13 minutes of play in the first half. The Jazz came back in the 4th quarter from 17 down, to win by 9 in a very exciting game.
Tonight is Senior Night for Morgan's team. It has been a long, difficult season and I think Morgan is anxious for it to be over. Well, Pat is encouraging me to end so we can go to Morgan's game. We love you all! DAD

Family Tree Project

Kade's class had a family fair where they had to create a family project with the help of their parents. We made a lift-a-flap family tree. The Madsen's were on the left with pictures of Grandparents, Great Grandparents and aunts,uncles and cousins. The Burnside's were on the right and our family was in the middle with things we like to do going down the tree trunk. It turned out really cute. Thanks for the pictures Pat. Kade also wrote letters to his grandparents and they were instructed to write letters back and send them to the school. They read a few letters everyday in their class. Kade was really excited to tell me about reading the letter Grandpa Madsen wrote him about being born on a farm and milking the cows and gathering eggs.

Zack WILL NOT wear pants. Thankfully he can't undo his church pants so he keeps those on all through church, but the rest of the week he just wears shirts. I found him wearing my fuzzy socks the other day, and was happy he at least had something on - our house is cold! The socks didn't last too long - the kid likes to have bare legs!

The Party NEVER stops!

We took the kids swimming on Saturday evening. They had so much fun - the waterslide was by far the funnest part for everyone. Zack LOVED it! Even though it was indoors the water was still cool and the air was cold - so we spent a lot of time freezing while standing in line watiting for our turn on the slide. Sunday was church- but after church we invited our friends over and we had dinner and a game night, staying up until 1:30am playing games. We went sledding on Mon. with our friends and enjoyed the holiday and time off of work and school. So today is catch up day for everyone but Rich who is back to work. The boys don't have school, some type of teachers work day. So it is now almost 11:30 and we are all still in pajamas :) Rich and I are speaking in church on Sunday and spent all weekend playing so now we will be preparing talks all week.

Rich applied for an online teaching position with University of Phoenix a couple weeks ago. He is still working at Deseret Mutual, this would just be a side job he could do in the evenings. He had a phone interview last week and they said there were about 25 candidates remaining and he would know their decision the beginning of this week. He got a call this morning and they offered him the job. He has a bunch of training and stuff to do for it, but he knows some guys he works with that do this and they really enjoy it, so hopefully it is a good thing.

In other news, Zack has started calling me Buff. He doesn't always call me Buff - it is usually Mom - but laying in bed last night he'd yell, "Buff, Buff want up!" I came up from the shower the other morning to find him in the kitchen sitting on the counter screaming because he had super glued all of his fingers together. :) thankfully super glue came off his soft little hands pretty easily.

J's Blessing

I asked Trent today if he'd told his family yet that we've changed the date for J's blessing and he said that was my job so hopefully this isn't too late to make arrangements if needed. We're going to be blessing our baby on Jan. 31st at 1PM here in Clinton if you guys would like to come. Don't feel pressured to be there but we'd love to see you if you do end up coming. Just let us know.

It pays to know Clay

Thanks to Clay Murdock - Rich, Kade, Ty and I went to the Jazz game tonight and sat on the 12th row. It was a lot of fun even though the Jazz lost. The boys loved watching the Bear and the midget Bear. I had no idea there was a midget Bear now. The half time show was the quick changing act, where the lady changes outfits about 20 times in the blink of an eye. The boys were loving it.

Happy New Year

We got the 12 live lobsters again this year - a perk of working for DMBA. Our friends came over for a New Year's Eve party where we had lobster, bacon wrapped New York steak and tons of yummy appetizers and treats. The lobster were were very active and the kids liked seeing them move. This is a picture of the platter we would load the lobster meat up on. We cooked 8 of the 12 lobsters and ended up giving 4 to James Bateman.
Our friends brought their PS3 and Rock Band. They have so many songs, from SpongeBob to AC/DC to the Beatles. The kids and adults had a fun time playing this. After Rock Band and food fest we turned on movies for the kids in the basement while we played some fun new games. I put Zack down at 7:30, but Ty was the first of the rest of the kids to fall asleep at 11pm, Kade made it until about 3am, and we stayed up playing games until about 4:30am. Thankfully the kids all slept in this morning - but we still spent the whole day in pajamas and laying on the couches and beds watching tv or reading.
