80s themed prom!

We went to an 80s themed prom party last night. It was held at a hotel in one of their banquet rooms and we had 80s music and a buffet of food and desserts and drinks. There was a place to get pictures taken. A group of our friends put this together and sent out invitations and it turned out to be really fun. There were about 20 people there and everyone was dressed up in 80s attire.

I have spent 2 days at BYU Law Orientation. Law School is going to be intense. Maybe for no other reason than the expect me to read a few books a day. They did assign me my own study space with locking cabinets and drawers. It has a very 'lawyerly' feel to it. I had never seen them before yesterday, but everyone told me they were the bombshizzle. I don't know that they make us law-nerds any cooler, but they make us feel important.

Mom and Trent asked me about the BYU/USU game that is going to be in Provo and wanted to know about tickets. The game is Sept. 23rd at BYU. Kick-off is at 1pm. The best way to get tickets is to go online to www.byucougars.com and click tickets on the left and then follow the links. Student ticket (any University ID will work) are 14 and in the endzone. It looks like the only single-game tickets for this one are endzone seats for 17 bucks a peice. There are some goofy charges for ordering and delivering that they don't tell you about untill the very end, but there is no way to avoid them. You could also call the ticket office at 1-800-322-2981. We would be happy to pick up tickets for anybody at the ticket office, but I am pretty sure it is not any cheaper and you can actually print your ticket at home now.

The only other recomendation I could make is you could call up a season ticket holder and see if they plan on using their seats and offer to buy them from them. Or, I am sure you could buy tickets the day-of from a scalper...prices are usually very similar to face value and you could probably get better seats but there is a chance BYU could be winning and USU could be losing by only a touch-down or 3 and the ticket could be a real hot commodity. I'll start asking around to see if I can find a student who has tickets who just won't be there and is feeling generous, but if you really want to plan on comming I would just say buy tickets. We live about a 30 minute walk from LaVell Edwards Stadium. We have thought about either walking or biking to the stadium. We would be happy to do some sort of food at our place before the game should anyone decide to come.

Rexburg Rush!!

Here is a picture of Rich at the Rexburg Rush last Saturday. This is him running the final stretch to the finish line. He did well and felt a lot better after this one than he did after the SpudMan.

Here are some pictures of Lagoon - It was fun to go with everyone. Kade loved riding the rides with Riley! We have some great video of Riley on the bumper cars - it is so cute! The naked Ty picture is right after the diaper blowout and just before we went home.

Shoe Trade

Well, I am back in San Fran with Ezri, but Christian will have to try tomorrow. We were all set to get on the plane when this very uptight gate agent ran around her counter to me and practically yelled in my face, "we don't board flip flops!"
You have to be in dress code to fly on a buddy pass, we knew that, but I guess weren't totally clear on the appropriate foot wear required for the dress-code. I agree, flip flops aren't business casual, but my shoes were left on top of the car when we left the airport at the beginning of this trip, and fell off somewhere on 215 and were run over by the cars behind us - so I wasn't really thinking about what shoes I would wear to the airport when we got ready since my flip-flops were all that had made it that far.
Anyway, I ran down the terminal and found an airport worker who looked like she was getting off of work and asked her for her shoes. She was soooo nice and just kicked them off.
We ran back down the terminal and the uptight lady - she stopped us again - and said Christian couldn't board because he had shorts on. Now, I didn't read the dress code, but the last time we flew, we talked to the gate agent and he told us shorts and jeans were fine for coach, but not for first class. We were not flying first class, but we didn't want to argue, because she muttered something that she would find out who we got our buddy passes from and "report them." Someone really must have made her mad earlier in the day for her to be so weird about it.
Christian will have to find some pants and come tomorrow.

Ironically, the woman flying next to me, who had a cute 7 month old baby, was also flying on a buddy pass. She was wearing sweat/pajama bottom pants, a t-shirt, and, get this, flip flops!! We laughed about it on the plane, but it was kind of irritating. She must have boarded without uptight lady seeing her.
The important thing is we made it home safely.
My brother in law, Josh, met me at the airport and helped me get the bags and baby home.

The Goon Was Great

Lagoon was fun! Morgan seemed to enjoy it. Ali and I had a blast. Riding the Screamer kind of put a damper on the rest of the day, as my stomach never recovered. Does anybody have pictures? Our camera was dying so we have none.

5K update

I ran in my first 5K race last Saturday. Rich and the boys got up early and came and watched and cheered me on. Other than Kade being disappointed that I didn't win a gold medal and Rich calling an Italian lady a whore - all went well. I enjoyed running the race, other than dodging the horse poop and rocks. The race was put on during the Weber Co. Fair and we ran around the fair grounds and horses stalls.

We are excited about Lagoon on Thursday. When we went last Saturday we went at 10am and other people Rich work with got there before 10 am and got in just fine. We will probably try to go at 10am again on Thursday and go straight to the swimming. We'll have our cell phone too so we can get in touch with people - our number is 801-497-1766.

Lagoon,etc.

We are planning on being at Lagoon about 11am. Emily Bateman is meeting us there. We should have the cell phone so we will connect with everyone. We will bring some drinks and food and find a shelter to make home base. If we stay late can we spend the night with Rich and Buffy? I think Rich is coming up for the triathalon on Sat and Trent and Kylie are coming up, anyone else? My Mom is having a luncheon with my sisters and me on Sat, but Trent is taking the boat out so anyone can go woith him. We have a family reunion on Sat night at 6pm in Rexburg(maybe) or somewhere else. It's a Madsen/Wilcox thing. Everyone should plan on being there so they can eat! If its in Rexburg there will be a swimming pool so the kids and Grandma can go swimming!!! We should know the details at Lagoon. I looked up the admission prices for Lagoon and the 2 for 1 is the cheapest way for the kids to go too.

Mom says that I need to tell you about the Southeast Idaho Senior Games that were held in Pocatello last week. I wanted to see how I could do in some track and field events. (Inspired by Rich's "Spud Man" escapades.) I registered to run the 50 yard dash and the 100 yard dash. When I got down there I thought it might b e fun to try the long jump as well, and for an extra few $ they let me compete in that event also.
I finished 2nd overall and 1st from Idaho, in the 50 yard dash with a time of 6.89 seconds. The guy from Utah that beat me had a time of 6.82 seconds.
In the 100 yd dash i finished 3rd overall and 2nd from Idaho. My time was 13.04 seconds , 1st was 12.82 abd 2nd was 12.95. The same doctor from Utah took 1st. ?Both of these guys compete on the circut, a lot of Sr. games and in the nationals. Other than them the competition wasn't much. The games in Pocatello are only in their 4th year and don't really draw much of a crowd. They say that they are growing in popularity.
My best event was in the long jump. I finished 1st overall and set a new record in my age division with a jump of 16' 2".
I am registered to compete at the Idaho Senior Games in ?Boise on Sat . the 26th where I will most likely get my butt kicked and humbled.

Hiking

We have had a busy summer doing lots of fun stuff. Here are a few pictures of some recent adventures. We were up at Henry's Lake waterskiing and camping a few weeks ago and stopped at Mesa falls on the way home. That is the picture of Rich holding Ty and Kade standing by them. The other pictures are of a hike we went on last Friday evening up Adam's Canyon to this waterfall. Kade gets so excited to go hiking because we get to eat snacks! :) Kade hiked 1 1/2 miles up before Rich had to pack him. The hike was Almost 2 miles up and 2 miles down. We went to Lagoon all day the next day and had a really fun time. Ty didn't like the rides very much - he cried the whole time on then. We are excited to bounce back again. Kade keeps asking when we get to go back to Lagoon. I am planning on running in my first 5K race this Saturday, and then Rich is planning on doing the Rexburg Rush Triathlon on the 19th of Aug. We've had a very busy - but very fun summer, and it's not over yet!!

We got an email from Rich's work about our Lagoon Day and it is during a bounce back time. The bounce back offer goes until Aug. 22 so we will bounce back with you guys any time you want to go. Let us know what your schedule is like and we'll make sure Rich can take the day off work. Val - it would be a lot of fun if your family could come down - Riley would LOVE IT!! Maybe your mom could get you some discounted tickets?? Anyways - let us know on the date that works best for you guys Pat. We go tomorrow for our Lagoon day and Kade is so excited - he sees commercials on tv about Lagoon and gets so excited. We are going on another hike tonight after Rich gets home from work. The boys really likes hiking, maybe that is because they are riding on our backs most of the way. That's o.k. - it makes it a good work out for me and Rich.

Val - I want to see pictures of your new table and chairs. I heard they are the countertop height ones!! I am so jealous! That is just what I want. Put a picture on so I can see how cute they are.

I will post some pictures soon - I have been painting all week. I painted 2 walls in my family room off my kitchen a dark red/maroon color. I really like it! And I repainted Kade's room since he ripped a big spot of his paint off last winter. They both turned out pretty good but now I am so sick of painting.

TABLE ROCK

All three of us made it to the top of Table rock last Wednesday. Morgan was first on the top. Dad was not far behind, and Mom made it about 10 minutes later. we are very proud!
