Last night Riley prayed that the snow would melt so we could have a swim party in the backyard. Amen, sister. I am so sick of the wind and the freezing temperatures!
Last week I sent her to her room to get dressed. A few minutes later I heard her desperately screaming, "Mom, my panties are giving me a heart attack!!" Amen again.

Super Bowl
Any and All are invited to Granma and Granpa's for the super bowl on sunday. I have to really think to remember who is playing, but I do the menu we're serving!! Val is bringing bean dip, I'm doing hot sandwiches, ham and swiss and turkey and mozarella. Buffy is bringing dessert, Morgan is making friut salad and Grandma Carver is bringing exotic sausages and cheeese she got for Christmas!!! We will gather arounf 4pm. Unless the game starts before that. Kind of nice the temple dedication was postponed, now there is no conflict!

Pres. Hinckley's Funeral
In case anyone wants to watch the funeral, here is the information on when BYU Broadcasting will be airing it.President Hinckley's funeral will air live on KBYU TV, BYU TV, KBYU-FM, and BYU Radio on Saturday, Feb. 2, starting at 10:30 a.m. MST.
The service, funeral procession, and graveside services will all be shown. There will also be a lot of special programming on Pres. Hickley.

Farewell President Hinckley
I am sure you have all heard the news about President Hinckley. I've gone through a range of emotions about it, but thought this quote from the Prophet was appropriate:
"My brethren and sisters, at the outset, if you will bear with me, I wish to exercise a personal privilege. Six months ago, at the close of our conference, I stated that my beloved companion of 67 years was seriously ill. She passed away two days later. It was April 6, a significant day to all of us of this Church. I wish to thank publicly the dedicated doctors and wonderful nurses who attended her during her final illness.
My children and I were at her bedside as she slipped peacefully into eternity. As I held her hand and saw mortal life drain from her fingers, I confess I was overcome. Before I married her, she had been the girl of my dreams, to use the words of a song then popular. She was my dear companion for more than two-thirds of a century, my equal before the Lord, really my superior. And now in my old age, she has again become the girl of my dreams."

Maybe because he was the Prophet for any period of time I can really remember, but I always felt like President Hinckley was almost a personal acquaintance. Perhaps because he was so willing to share his life and emotions. I'm sure he will be remembered for being friendly and welcoming, among many other things. We're happy to think of him being reunited with his wife.

Aggies on TV
For any Aggie basketball fans still out there Utah State will play on TV tomorrow and next Saturday the 2nd.
They play tomorrow at 4:00 on ESPN2 against New Mexico State; away game.
They play Feb. 2nd at 7:00 on KJZZ against Nevada. Its a home game and Nevada has become our WAC rival, so it is bound to be rocking at the Spectrum. Not to mention the last 2 games have been sell-outs against lesser opponents. So the Nevada game will be a hard ticket.
They are on a 10-game win streak. They had some really bad road losses at the start of the year but are now 15-5 and over the last 10 games have looked like a completely different team than the first 10 games. They have been very fun to watch this year.

You Broke Our Baby!!!
Since about 2-months old Morgan has slept 10 hours a night. You could snap your fingers, say Ni-Night and she would smile, blow you a kiss, and then go to sleep. Then we did Christmas '07 in Idaho. I don't know what you all did, but now she is part insomniac, part narcaleptic (sp?). She will sleep anywhere EXCEPT in her crib and never sleeps for more than 4 hours at a time. Her latest thing is to go to sleep in her crib, get up between 2-4 am and then INSIST, at threat of nuclear-tantrum, that she share a bed with dad. Fortunate for mom, we have an extra bed by her crib where her and dad can crash. Sweet, but also evil!
This first one is one of the nights where she insisted "Couch! Couch!" and then fell asleep starying at the turned-off TV. Sigh. . .

funny call to 911
the stabbin's and shootin's are sometimes kinda funny .... but the past few days, "odor" calls have been my specialty. One turned out to be a skunk... so there was a little bit of merit to the call, but .... this dude yesterday was my favorite --- I'll write it up like a transcript: D is Dispatch (that's me) and RP is Reporting Party (that's the dude)
D: 911, police fire, and medical ... what is the exact location of the emergency?
RP: Oh, gosh, oh gosh.. (cough cough ..... gagging sounds) I'm, I'm at the cross of Turk and Franklin... (wheeze)
D: Okay, tell me what the problem is ...
RP: it reeks, it REEKS, i cannot even describe how bad it smells, it's like a natural gas or something, oh gosh, it's just AWEFULL the fire department better check it out, there's got to be a gas leak .. or... or.. something (more gagging)
(an engine is dispatched to investigate the smell of natural gas for a possible leak )
D: can you tell what the source of the odor is?
RP: it's filling my whole car, oh, oh it reeks!!
D: are you feeling sick or dizzy?
RP: well ............ I don't really feel sick..........anymore
D: Are your car windows rolled up? Is the source of the odor outside, or is it coming from your car??
RP: oh, oh oh,, ahhhhh, yea... that worked, I unrolled my windows and now it's ..... yeah.... it's gone now.....
(fire truck sirens in back ground...)
D: okay, sir, I can hear the truck there, can you go talk to the fire department now?
RP: yeah, it's kind of hard for me to get in and out of my car, so ....
D: okay I'll tell them to come over and talk to you .... good bye
RP: thank you, good bye
Dispatch and trainers burst out laughing! I wonder what the Fire Department thought!! All they put in the call was that there was no merit to a leak...probably more like an invisible duck (anyone watch Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy?? probably too vague a reference, but invisible duck is same as barking spider, but you figured it out already too- can you believe he called 911 and asked for a fire department investigation?)

Ezri loves cottage cheese and corn dogs
Also, (barely worth mentioning really) I am surprisingly pregnant - due mid September, possibly sooner or later as this is quite a surprise, I'm not too sure ....we will have to wait for a due date to be determined by measurements later on...

No News?
Hasn't anything blog worthy happened lately? I need things to read about before I go to bed at night! The highlight of my week was when I received an Eddie Bauer package in the mail today with my long awaited elastic waistband pants. I pulled out my designer sweats and thought, "These are humongous! What was I thinking? I should have gotten a smaller size! They have added fabric in the thighs for saddle-bags!" Then I tried them on and they fit. It was very depressing. I guess now I can avoid the hassle of returning them.
Skyline JV team is looking for a big win over IF tomorrow night. Maybe I will take some pictures. I will probably be wearing my sweats.

Festivis
It was great to see everyone over Christmas. FYI - the Skyline girl's JV team won the first game of 08 - one for the record books!
Here are some pictures of Christmas highlites....I dont know how to make my captions line up with my pictures, so there is one of the girls in their Christmas jammies, Riley on the skates, and then Riley jumping on the trampoline. I have some of sledding at Grandma's, which was a very memorable expereince, but they haven't been downloaded yet. Yesterday I suggested going sledding and Riley questioned, "Behind Don's tractor?" I told her Grandpa was in Utah, so we couldn't do that. She threw a little fit and through screaming and whining requested that Great Grandma Madsen drive the tractor.
