Boating?
Me and Kylie are coming to IF next Thursday and Friday. We are planning on taking the boat out Thursday evening and then heading up to meet Mom and Morgan at Palisades on Friday morning. Everyone who can is welcome to come with. The more the merrier.
Me and Dad are looking to play some golf early Thursday morning too if anyone can get work off and wants to go.

It came from the deep
I was getting ready for bed a few days ago when Trent yelled at me from the bathroom, "what did you put in the toilet!" I started wondering what did I put in the toilet. Well it wasn't me and we still don't know what it was. It seems large shards of the toilet broke off and came up. Trent got a hanger and fished it out. Once it was out we just tossed it in the trash too grossed out to really investigate. The toilet still works so I guess it wasn't anything too important.

Melaleuca's Summer Picnic

Melaleuca's summer picnic was today. It's a six-hour free-for-all of sun, sno-cones, cotton candy, inflatable toys, pony rides, face painting, water park etc. They also give out about $25k in prizes - needless to say we walked away empty handed, which was pretty disappointing since the prizes ranged from flat-screen TVs to a trip to Disneyland and the Caribbean. None the less, Riley and Macie had a blast and here are a few pictures from their adventures.
Photos / Video
The Navigation, Guidance, and Control team. I was the lead this mission, which doesn't really mean anything, except I got to give more presentations and attend more meetings.
The entire team - Booster, payload, MDA, range, cooks, custodians, anyone who happened to be around...

The video is 16MB. The first 2 minutes is the rocket, the rest is just video of radars (not all that exciting).

So did you run 7 miles today or have you just not synced in a while? I'm really hoping it the second option just so I feel better about myself.

Huh?
Long, but I thought Ali, Buffy and Kylie would appreciate this due to their obsession.
From the blog: http://mormonhusbands.blogspot.com/2008/02/twilight-series-for-dummies-and-totally.html"While most of the Twilight phenomenon is undoubtedly positive, we as men have an obligation to begrudge Stephanie Meyer for two reasons:1. Edward.2. Jacob.Or, as I like to call them, Jerk Face #1 and Jerk Face #2.

top of utah update
I
finished my five mile run in 49 minutes. I had to do it on the treadmill. All of my pain started when I moved my running outside to the streets, so I figure I need a more forgiving surface. I was going to go to Thunder Stadium, but, of course, it was the "walk for life" relay thingy. Despite my chronic knee pain, it was rather painless. It gave me confidence in actually running thirteen. I figure if I can run 5 with no pain, I could probably force 8 more without dying. Here are some pics documenting Charlie's rolling skills.

Palisades Lake
All of my sisters (4) and brother went waterskiing together this last week at Palisades. We had a great day playing at the lake. I love waterskiing!! This was my first time this year and it was so much fun! The water was so nice, and it was so fun to be with my sisters and brother.

We set up a great canopy for shade and lunch and the kids loved playing in the water. There were 13 kids and 6 adults. :)

This jet ski is not ours but was on the shore where we were playing at the boat club and Ty thought it looked to fun to pass up.

Kade is a little fish! He loves swimming and swam all day except when I had him ride in the boat while I skied. I think this was the first time he was been in the boat while I have skied, so he thought it was pretty cool that I could do that.

Ty didn't think anything about the boat ride was cool. He was fine while we were going slow, but as soon as I sped up he hated the wind in his face and sat down on the floor with the towel over his face the rest of the time.

Kade thought it was pretty fun to help me drive. I know my hair is looking amazing - but I did just get out of the water.
4th of July Fun
So I'm spending the 4th of July in Kodiak, Alaska. We didn't get to work, so we had to find some way to entertain ourselves. Someone heard there was a 10k run in the morning. I got talked in to going.
The race started at 10am. I'd guess there were about 25 runners. Considering about 10 of us were from Sandia, and 3-4 were high school track team members, I don't think they get much of a turnout. Conditions - 48 degrees, 5-10 mph wind, steady rain. Conditions at race end - 48 degrees, 5-10 mph wind, steady rain. Conditions now (6:00pm) 48 degrees F, 5-10 mph winds, steady rain. Predicted conditions for the next several days, well, you get the idea. While waiting for the race to begin I was shivering. After about 500m I warmed up and started to feel pretty good. Once the race ended, however, we all got cold really fast. Luckily one fellow Sandian is in the military reserve, so we were able to go to the Coast Guard station and take a hot shower in the gym. Even after that I didn't really feel warm for a couple of hours.
The 4th of July parade was canceled. I heard they had fireworks at 12:01am the 4th morning. Since it doesn't really get very dark till like 2am, I don't think I missed anything. Back to work tomorrow.
Good times.
