Sunny San Diego

A little picture heavy on this post but believe me I took A LOT more. Trent had a class in San Diego last week and let Lady and I tag along. He got to play with us a few days but for the most part J and I just did our own thing.
The weather was perfect! In the 70's most the time and sunny. Awesome.
Lady was a rock star the whole trip. Did well in the car and wasn't too grumpy even with the lack of naps. She would have stayed at Sea World if we let her. She LOVED the "Elmo Ride" and made dad take her back several times. She also loved that she got to hug Elmo. Cookie Monster scared her the first day, she kept saying,"tookie Moster scary". But the last day she hugged him too. Her favorite animal at the Zoo was the Panda and we had to go see it multiple times. Yesterday she woke up and said, "I so cited!" When I asked her why she said, "San Diego!". I hated to break her heart and tell her we were back in Utah. I feel the same way....

Ty's Birthday

Ty was so excited for his birthday. A little bit before his bedtime the night before he said, "Well I better go to bed so you can start decorating for my birthday!" No pressure for me :) (I don't know why this is underlined, but I can't figure out how to fix it - sorry)
The air hockey table is a big hit! I found it on KSL for $20.00 It is medium sized - but perfect for the boys.
Oops.. I didn't fix the red eyes before I posted. He asked for a soccer ball and net and was excited to get it.
His new purple shirt was a big hit. Everyone who saw it told him they liked his shirt - of course that made him smile. Thanks for the presents Pat and Dale - he LOVES the book and thinks the poems are so silly. :)
For his birthday dinner we went to Cracker Barrel. I picked the restaurant and everyone was a little skeptical, especially when we got there and everyone was over 60 :) I had only been there once in Albuquerque,NM. It is an old time restaurant with an old time store in the front. We all loved it and the prices are pretty good and you get TONS of food! Ty LOVED the little game with the golf tees they leave on your table to play while you wait for your food. He was obsessed and played it over and over even while we eat. He got down to where he only had 2 tees left a couple of times. Because it was his birthday he got a free dessert and got a big piece of chocolate Coca-Cola cake and a scoop of ice cream. You really don't feel too bad after eating out there because more than 1/2 your plate is your sides of vegetables. Today the kids were telling their friends all about this old time restaurant we went to. It was funny to hear them talking about it.

After a busy morning of basketball games today - we took the kids sledding/snowboarding. There wasn't a lot of snow - but enough to work, and it was so sunny and nice, it was awesome to be outside. We borrowed our friends 2 snowboard sleds and we have Trent's snowboard. All the kids rode them and loved it. Hopefully this helps Kade want to go again.

Zack and the snowboard sled
Cort loved touching the snow. I rode down on the sled with him a couple times. The hills were pretty small and not very steep.
Rich, getting Kade all set on the snowboard.
Ty snowboarding down the hill. Next year, Ty will start snowboarding too, hopefully Kade will join him. :)

Faces of Cort

The two faces of Cort:
HAPPY
Focused/Serious
He's really focused on the couch cushion :) As he has become more interested in things and watching things this is the face he does.

Most of you have already seen the dining room, so these pictures are for those who haven't. I am still working on finishing painting it all and then I will make curtains and finish decorating but it is getting close to being done.
This project has taken a LONG time - but we love how it turned out! Rich did a great job on all the trim work. I told him what I wanted and helped pick out the mouldings and he made it happen! We love having a separate dining room. When I married Rich and we'd go to Pat and Dale's house, one thing I really loved was sitting in the dining room eating together and visiting. I knew that I wanted that same thing in my house one day and was so excited when we found a house with a separate dining room.

howdy

I laughed so hard I cried watching Modern Family last night.  Anyone else?  It was the town meeting and the viral video that got me.  Oh my.
I am over Relief Society activities in our branch.  We need a craft and I am totally out of the crafting loop.  Have you guys done anything fun lately?  What are the new trends?  I am avoiding Pinterest like the plague, cause it would just cause me to spend more useless time at the computer.
If you have any good ideas, I would LOVE you to share :)

Stuff

Thought I should put up some pictures to update what's happening in our lives (and to push Daniel off the top). Here we are at Grandma's for Christmas.

It took some doing, but we found some snow and went sledding. It took a lot of convincing, but eventually Daniel went on the sled with Grandpa.

Andrew was having as much fun as ever.

Brooke, Michael and Alexander are playing Upward Basketball again. Lydia also made the school team again (now on the A team). She played some in their first game (which they lost 33-23), and a lot in the second game (which they won something like 42 - 4).

For Christmas we got Just Dance 3. The kids love it. As much watching each other as doing it themselves.

What's for Breakfast?

I don't think Daniel could wait for Grandma to make breakfast, so he found his own....

Christmas revisited

Trent helping cook Christmas dinner. We had Prime rib, salmon and shrimp. It was pretty good.
Awesome gifts were exchanged, but the kids liked the wrappings the best. I will have to post more pictures of this phenom.
Jared replaced all, yes all of my bathroom sink faucets! They look so nice and Grandma no longer has to turn on the water for little ones!
Dale found a snowy hill for the kids to sled down. Fun time until one big crash. I have better pics of the fun, will post later.

Christmas dinner, note Morgan's new glasses.

The Other Turkey Day

Brad was nice enough to deep fry us a turkey for a little day after New Years celebration. The guys did a great job cooking, and Buffy did a great job hosting. It was a good end to the holiday celebrations. Happy New Year everyone!
