Kade & Ty's TV Debut

Here's a link to the Kids Club spot that will be airing throughout February on KBYU. Rich, Buffy, Kade, and Ty are all in it. Once I get a schedule I'll let you know when it will be on if you want to see it on TV as well. Thanks for doing this guys, we really appreciate the help!

Off to California

Rich and I are headed to Santa Monica today for a few days. The boys are at my sisters in Smithfield. Rich has a conference there and I get to go along and have a nice little break from being MOM! and a break from all this haze and smog we have here in Utah.

Any word on the Madsen family portraits from a month ago?

Marianne

To see Marianne's new baby and find out all the news of China, go to twokidsthreecats.blogspot.com. Happy birthday to Ty! And Happy birthday to Alex on Monday! Morgan played the violin in church today with three other violins and two violas and myself on the cello. She did such a great job!! It was really alot of fun to play with a group like that. I would really like to run, but someone has to pick up Morgan from EFY on Sat morning in Logan, around 7am! Maybe she could run the last leg or something. We need to do this with a lot more notice, but really would that make a difference?

Ty's 2nd Birthday

Ty turned 2 today! He got the new scooter - which I found on an amazing clearance at Target for $4.98 - I quickly returned the one I bought at Toys R Us two days earlier for $39.99. He loves it - but is not sure how to ride it yet. He stands on it like he is waiting for it to take him on a ride or put his new curious george stuffed animal on it and takes him for a ride. :) We went to the TreeHouse Museum - which the boys love. I made the curious george birthday cake - which the boys thought was really fun. We had a great day! Pat and Dale - thanks for the honeynut cheerios bowl set. Ty got the package today in the mail. We will use them for breakfast in the morning!

Relief. . .

I passed all my classes and am in the top-half of my class. While that doesn't mean I can go out and buy a sports car because I am sure I will get some crazy job, it is still nice to at least know I am on track to graduation and becoming a lawyer.

Seriously

Everyone needs to seriously consider this. We will call on Saturday night to get a final decision. It is non-refundable. You would need to take a day off work and find babysitters for 24+ hours, but I think it would be quite the experience. So far Rich and Buffy said they are in. Mom said she and Dad are in, Morgan most likely...there is a very small possibility she would be at EFY that weekend. So, brad, ali, Trent and Kylie need to respond. Remember, you can walk if you want, but we would be cheering you on so much that I think you couldnt help but run :) It gives us something to train for, plus it would be really fun. Now is a good time cause no one is currently pregnant, and that may come to be pretty rare in the fam. Rich, could we really claim the entry fee as tax deductable? I think it says a "portion" goes to the charity.

Argh!

wasatchbackrelay.com
go here. this is right.

EXTREME MADSEN MILE

I REALLY think we should do this! Here is the teaser:

Ragnar Relay
Wasatch Back
175 Miles
24 Hours
12 Friends.
The Grand Daddy of them All.

Go to
www.wasatchback.com
to learn more. It is a little pricey, but it goes to charity and it would be really fun. Rose, Jeff, Susie, Miner, Erica and Landon did part of one in Washington and they said it was the best time ever. WE could totally do it. You can walk, run, whatever works. 12 people? I am thinking Val, Todd, Mom, Dad, Morgan, Rich, Buff, Trent, Kylie, Brad, Ali, and one more. (Jared or Kim gonna be in town?) Only thing is that in order to not have to pay AS much, we need to register before the end of the month. What do you think?

Marianne

Marianne had her baby. I guess she was in labor for a day and then had a c-section. He weighed 5lbs something. He spent some time in the ICU and under the bili-lights, but they are home now. Nancy said her comment was, " No one come see me for a while."
I get all my info third hand, from Karma and then Mom so who knows.
Mom
Happy birthday to Ali tomorrow!

Thanks Ali

Ali,
Thanks for calling my about the KBYU shoot. We had so much fun. We had never been to the Discovery Gateway and it was a lot of fun! We picked Rich up from work before we went so he was able to come with us too. I forgot what you told me you were going to do with the kids club memberships - did you say you were going to send them to me?? Do you know when the shoot will air?? I would like to record it so we have a copy of it. Thanks again - if you think of something you'd like done in vinyl I would be more than happy to cut it for you. Thanks again.

We found our new apartment - I think

(The one we will have does not have granite counters or new cabinets, but was the same layout.)

Come and stay with us and we can play in the pool!! (it's only 40 degrees here right now - but warmer in the summer)

The grounds were well kept and very green. The gazeebo - great for a bar-b-q~~~

So, we think we looked at the place we want to move to today. I'ts nice enough - bedrooms on top and livingroom - dining and kitchen below. The upgrades for us will be dishwasher, free parking, larger living space, free fitness center (Christian says he will even use it!) Shorter commute, pool, and 2 bathrooms! There's a lot of closet space and a "tot lot" on the grounds. Hmmm- what else did I like - They close the gates after 10pm so it's a little safer at night - close to a Trader Joe's and BART station. . . Garbage and water are included - 2 entrances to the apartment - front door and backdoor - They are running a New Year's special where the first month is free - and don't reqire 1st and last month to move in, just a small securuty deposit and credit check fee.
The other places we looked at required 1st + last month, and the security deposits were more than a months rent! plus the application fees - so we were looking at a huge amount of money just to move in. We were thinking we would just have to suck it up and sign the higher rent agreement here -
But this place should work. It seemed quiet, too. I guess you never know until you actually try to sleep at a new place, but it can't be any worse that here with our noisy upstairs neighbors and drunkies across the parking lot. You all will have to come and stay after we move!

yeah - we liked it. The only thing I was not too excited about were the stairs - not too safe, there's only a rail along the upstairs hall, so we'll have to do something about that - and if I get the 911 police job, it will be a longer commute. Plus moving will be hard with the stairs, too. But we'll only be paying about 100 dollars more a month - with the free parking and water included, that nearly cancels itself out. I'm really excited! We'll let everyone know our new address in Feb when we get settled.

The next apprentice

For an assignment in my estate planning class I will have to create my will. Since Brad is yet to finish law school, I bought a program called family lawyer to assist me in writing it. Kylie will receive anything we have....which is the breeze and our table we exchanged val for a haricut. Brad can have wardrobe. I have nothing left to give.

This is an Email the College of Business sent out today:
Firstline Security is sponsoring a reality TV show thatwill be filmed this summer and aired next year. It is called the Prodigy, and it is similar to the Apprentice. This Saturday there will be a casting call from 10-5 p.m.at the Fashion Place Mall. You need to bring your resume, two forms of id, and a photo. Dress to impress. 2,500students will be selected from across Utah. If selected,be prepared to prove your business skills. Participantswill be paid an average of $20,000 for their appearance onthe show. This is a four-month commitment and participantshave to be willing to relocate. Winner will receive$200,000 cash, $1m to invest, and a new Hummer.

Where is the Fashion Place mall? At first I thought they were comming to Logan, but I don't think that is the name of our mall. Maybe I won't be doing that. You should look into it too Brad.

Christmas Activities

Each year the Rupp's do a nativity at their Christmas party. The story is a little different from the one you may be used to.

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came terrorists from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him...

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and Mr. Potato Head.
Lydia is Mary on the right. Brooke was an angel and appears later.

Christmas cards!

Woo hoo! Kim, I got the cards on Tuesday! I will still send them to a person or two. Just thought I'd let you know they came. Kylie, just thought I'd let you know that I am enjoyning my new cut and color. Morgan, on the other hand, is REALLY enjoying her cut. I went shopping with her. At one store she stood in the three way mirror and said, "I love my new hair...cut. I went from all one length lame to THIS. Kylie is AMAZING!" I was a little freaky. I think it is safe to say that she will be a return customer. In other news, Todd can beat me in ping pong while playing with his left hand. That's about all fro here.

Lots of Snow

We spent all day at the aorport yesterday with sick baby. There was sooo much snow, and the board kept changing the time of our flight later and later - but nobody ever made an announcement until about 5:30, when they said to be back in the boarding area by 7:15 for a departure of 8pm. Ezri saved the day by being sick -
We were going to go get some dinner after the announcement, but I wanted to wait until after 6pm so I could give Ezri some more Tylenol before feeding her again. I gave her a dose and went to go get some hot water for a bottle, and when I walked back past the gate - they were boarding!! There was no announcement or anything - we grabbed our stuff, got on the plane, and it left at 6:20! (only about 4 hours late)
It took about 45 minutes for "de-icing?"
then we left. Christian made a comment about "how did they even load our bags?" as we were waiting at the de-ice station . . .
well, they didn't load anyone's bags. It kind of worked out for us, because it was freezing cold in oakland, and we would have had to load all of those bags onto the BART in the cold wind- Hopefully they will find our luggage and deliver it today -
It was pretty bad - but it could have been a lot worse. If we had left to get dinner, we probably would have been stuck another night. It was a pretty sad display of poor customer service - I can't believe they didn't make any announcements about boarding or anyhting. And not loading any bags?? What is that all about? Well, we are home safe and had a good Christmas visiting everyone!

Val - Modbe party info.

Val,
I called my sister Heidi and told her you may be interested in hosting a Modbe party. She said that if you host the party in Jan. or Feb. you receive a voucher for a free swim suit. The pictures of the new swim suits are not out yet - so you would just have to hope they were good. But they had a lot of cute ones last year and so I wouldn't worry too much about what they will look like. Anyways, if you really are interested here is her email darlingdidi@yahoo.com and you can just email her and set up a time that works for you. She lives in Rexburg and has a pretty open schedule.

Tile Update

Someone from the homefront needs to post some pictures and updates of the Tile2006 production. Is the toilet on? All good to go? Future plans for other bathrooms?

Rich.
