Top of Utah Half Marathon

Rich, Buffy, Valerie and I all ran in the Top of Utah Half Marathon this morning. Rich got the gold star with a time of 1:55:43, while I finished in 2:04:50, Buffy in 2:05:43 and Valerie in 2:12:42. Everyone did awesome and we had a great time doing it, even though right now my knees aren't very happy with me. There were roughly 1200 runners, which made for an interesting start to the race. Thanks to Trent and Kylie for letting us stay with them and for taking care of Charlotte while we ran. As you can see from the pictures, getting bloody nipples from running is not a myth. The funny thing is that I have no idea when the bleeding started. I didn't even know that I had what looked like a bullet wound until Valerie finished the race and was the first one to be honest with me. Trent assured me that I wasn't the first or the worst bloody nipple martyr. Apparently a man finished in front of me with TWO bloody nipples and a stream of blood flowing down his shirt from each (sorry for the gory details, but I suppose it goes along with Brad's last post.)

Ty's riding on 2 wheels
On Monday Ty was riding the exercise bike while I was running on the treadmill - he can pedal pretty fast on it. The rest of the day he kept asking for a bigger bike to ride, his is so tiny and has training wheels that are worn down to almost nothing. So Tuesday evening we went over to the church parking lot and took off the training wheels. After about 30 minutes he was riding up and down the side walk in front of our house. He is still a little shaky and when he gets nervous he puts his feet down but he does pretty good. Today he was learning to start on his own with out me holding the bike, he did it a few times.

"With or Without the Rope"
I'll try and get the videos posted on the Madsen Family Web-Site but for now all those wanting to see Todd's adventures at Palisades can watch the three part video extravaganza on our blog. (trentandkylie@blogspot.com) we had some issues with the video, I'll try and get it up tomorrow after work on this blog.

We were happy that Val and Todd and girls were able to come over and play on the slide.
Riley was so brave and would do anything she saw Kade doing.
THE SLIDE
I couldn't get any more pictures to upload for some reason - but I think I got a few videos to upload. This was a surprise for our friends. They drove up from Utah on Friday morning and we had this set up and waiting for them in our backyard. I think the adults played on it more than the kids - it was SO fun! I am sure we broke every rule that came with it - but luckily no one got hurt. What a great day!
