Month in Review

Riley graduated from Kindergarten! We are so proud of her. She loves school and can't wait for first grade.

Macie turned four! She wanted to take us out to dinner at Red Robin with the birthday money she received from Todd's aunts. We went ahead a let her :)
In other news, we will be blessing Grant Carver on June 20th - Father's Day. Our sacrament meeting is at 11am. If you can make it, we'd love to have you come! We also had a good time at dinner for Dad's 60th birthday. Pictures to come soon...

Another Preschool Graduation

Morgan graduated from preschool today and will now move on to ... more preschool.
M adores her teacher, Miss Karilee, and I am dreading having to look for a replacement next year.

Preschool Graduation

It's graduation time!
Ty's preschool graduation was short and sweet. They sang lots of songs, got called up one by one and then it was done.
We took pictures before we went down to the school to avoid the chaos.
Ty wanted to kiss us in every picture.
On to kindergarden!

At the Speed of Life

I think most of you know, but I have accepted a job with a firm in downtown SLC. It is quite unexpected, actually. My job now is "fine," but the firm has a real reputation for turn over and a low quality of life. I can imagine staying here for a long time, if I didn't have another option. But this deal in SLC just kind of showed up, and it looks like our best clear chance - now or later - to make the jump. Really, the strangest thing about this is that we were quite content in Las Vegas and were thinking about buying a house here and putting down roots. In the end, I guess LV just wasn't meant to be for us. I don't think we will regret our time here; it was a lot of fun and we grew quite a bit. We are going to miss our friends and our ward.

So, once again, we find ourselves juggling moving, a job, our family and church lives, etc. Also, I have to take the Utah Bar Exam. The decision was made after a lot of thought and prayer, but it will still be a stressful and wild ride. We are looking at homes in Utah now and focusing in areas north of SLC, just because that seems to be where Rich and Trent are settled. We'll take any advice (financial, professional . . . whatever) anyone can offer!

What will we do when Morgan is gone?

She really hit the ball well in districts, getting on first a whole bunch.
the team beat everyone in districts, beating Highland once, but not twice for the district title,
so they played a play in game at Twin falls on saturday against Capital . It was a sad day when
they lost, ending a trip to state. Over the season they won 25 games.

She was team captain and got to call the toss.

this is Taylor's little sister, I thought it was Morgan.

these are the seniors on the team Skyline should do very well in the years to come with all
the young talent they have.

We rented this dress from a lady in Rexburg, you can't see them but the top is covered in circles made of rhinestones, very cute!

Before the dance 13 couples came for dinner, this is before they came, abviously.
It was so much fun having them here.

USU Alumni 5K Run

We participated in the USU Alumni 5K family fun run on Saturday. It was the perfect morning for running outside. Kade and Ty rode their bikes, I pushed Zack in the stroller and Rich ran on his own. The boys were so excited that they got their own Aggies shirt and their own race number! Kade rode along side Rich while he ran and I had Ty ride by me. The first mile I had to keep telling Ty to speed up and ride next to me. I think he got so sick of hearing it he just took off and followed the pack of people to the finish line - so he did most of the race on his own :) I would ask the helpers handing out water if they had seen a little boy on a bike with a spiderman helmet ride past and they always said yes, so I figured he was on the right course. :) James, Jackie, Amy and Andrea all ran in the race too. Emily was there watching James and Jackie's boys.
Before the race we took a picture with Big Blue! Zack was scared to death of him.
The race was in Kaysville and started at the USU botanical gardens.
Here is the post race celebration - Aggie Ice Cream! This is probably the only race in the world they give you ice cream after the race and 8:30 in the morning instead of fruit and juice :) We didn't mind! That is James walking in the background of the picture.
After the race I spent the rest of the day in Provo shopping and eating with my girlfriends - celebrating one of their birthdays! It was a pretty good Saturday.

AAHHH!

Morgan, there IS the EXACT same star design on Grandpa Carver's plane as there is on the fabric used in "Grant" Carver's bedroom!!!

Happy Mother's Day!

There are lilac bushes all over this property and they are all starting to bloom and smell. Lilacs remind me of my mom - she loved them! :) So this morning I cut a bunch off the tree and the last of the tulips and made two flower arrangements. They smell so good in the house - and make me feel a little touch of my mom here on Mother's Day.
Here is my Mother's Day gift! Since our blender broke after it tipped over in the sink and shattered a while ago - we have been missing it. We have longed for fruit smoothies and milk shakes. So for Mother's Day we went to CostCo and got this blender/food processor. We used it this morning for fruit smoothies - it is a dream!
After forcing them outside and to sit by me - I finally got a few pictures of me and my boys! :)
I guess I should just be happy they are here by me and looking at the camera - most of the time they were pulling silly faces and holding up their hands and messing with each other.
Rich and I hardly ever get our picture taken together, because one of us is usually taking the picture. Kade is the photographer here.

Happy Mother's Day!

That was fun.

We were in Utah this weekend and had a good time staying with Trent and Kylie and having a BBQ with Rich and Buffy's family while watching the Jazz choke away a great opportunity.

Trent told me about a CBS Sports article about BYU and the honor code. I think most Mormons would find it funny. Here it is. Even among BYU-ites, the honor code is a pretty devisive thing. Most people agree students should have to follow some code of conduct, but there is a lot of disagreement about what the HC should include and how it should be administered.

Madsen Boys Update

Here is what we've been up to this last week. We found the house I wanted - it was perfect for me. It had a great yard, huge house, good neighborhood came with a hot tub, had an exercise room - I could go on and on. We looked at it on Tues. evening, made an offer Wed. morning and found out that had received a substantially higher offer the day before. :( We were at the highest we could offer so there really wasn't anything we could do. So the house is gone, I am still sad and now compare all the houses we look at to that house. It will take me a little while to get over this loss. SO the house hunt continues.

Kade has started playing baseball games. He has 2 games a week and is on a really good team for the first time ever! He plays machine pitch and his team won both games last week by a long ways. On Friday nights game Kade hit the ball everytime up to bat and on his second time up he hit a line drive out to right field and nailed the right fielder (who was not really paying attention) right in the arm and he fell to the ground crying as Kade rounded first base. Everyone on our team was cheering and kept telling Kade to keep running. He made it to third - but could have had a homerun if he was a little faster. :) He was so excited he got a triple.

I spent 1/2 day Thursday and Friday down in Provo with my sister and her mother in law at Women's Conference. We had a good time. There were 15,000 women there and it is so interesting to watch them all. We'll all be in the Marriott Center for the opening session and the General RS presidency is talking about how wonderful and great the church's humanitarian services are and showing video of the help we provided in Haiti, Chile and Samoa. So you are sitting there thinking - wow, the church is so great. RS women do so much to help and are so kind and good. Then the session ends and you go to break out classes and the women turn ruthless. Everyone is running and pushing and yelling at others to get into the class they want. No one obeys traffic rules - women are just running wildly across the streets with no regard to the cross walk or traffic. It was crazy - but entertaining! In the closing session Elder Oaks and his wife spoke. I broke off about 1/2 of my back molar eating Kettle Korn. So now I get to spend some time at the dentist tomorrow.

Ty lost his second tooth last night. Both permanent teeth have started coming in before the baby teeth came out, so it is good to have them out and not have two rows of teeth on the bottom.

We spent the afternoon yesterday at Lagoon with our friends. The boys are getting more brave every time we go. While my friend and I were on Wicked and the husbands were watching the kids, Ty ran and got into a line and on a ride that looked innocent enough and Rich didn't know what the ride did. Ty was the only kid to get in line and get on the ride. Once the ride started our friend said to Rich, "I can't believe he'd want to go on that ride." Rich said, why what does it do?? Our friend told Rich that it spins around until it goes upside down. There are no seat belts and just bars on the side of the cars to keep you in. Rich said Ty, who is my most scared kid on rides, was scared to death. He had completely flattened himself on his back and was hanging on to the bars so tight. When the ride stopped, Ty was crying and told Rich he thought he was going to go into outer space. :)

We are going out to Trent and Kylie's this afternoon to have a BBQ with them and Brad and Ali's family.
